Bright Light: March Madness

In Saline, Michigan, United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church hold an annual March Madness event. Many gather in the Christian Life Center and Christler Hall to enjoy a day of basketball fun. Twenty-one teams, ages 10-60, played in our 2015 3-on-3 half-court basketball tournament. We watched the men’s NCAA basketball tournament live on the big screen and enjoyed delicious stadium style refreshments from the generously sponsored and wonderfully decorated concession stands.

Many people took home college and basketball themed items from the silent auction.  Through our enthusiastic community and congregation participation, we raised $2,300 for Saline Area Social Services! The profit was used to make a donation to the Meijer Simply Give campaign during their double matching days. Our $2,300 became $6,900 given directly to SASS! The United Methodist Women had the opportunity to host many families that had never been in our building before and share with them the passion we feel for our church home. This event gave us the opportunity to turn our faith, hope and love into action.
