See You at Assembly!
Praise awaits you, our God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. You who answer prayer, to you all people will come.
—Psalm 65:1-2 (NIV)
Surely the presence of the Lord is in the place—what a great and wonderful time we’re getting ready for at Assembly 2014! There’s still time for you to join us in Louisville, Ky. Register at Assembly2014.org!
Come join us as we praise God’s goodness, grace and mercy, as we sing a joyful song unto the Lord. Come honor those who inspired you to be United Methodist Women members. I am excited to see old friends and meet new ones. I can’t wait for the visits, meals with new faces and worshiping with my sisters from around the world. I hope to see you there and get a great big United Methodist Women hug!
One of my favorite parts of Assembly is being with a group of women who have the same vision, passion and determination I do—the same raw enthusiastic energy about being difference makers for women, children and youth. I can remember my first Assembly. It was in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I went with the women of my local unit at St. James United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Mo. We had an awesome time together in fellowship and just getting to know one another, building a history and a legacy and learning what an important gathering Assembly is.
Assembly features many different workshops for women of all ages and backgrounds and passions under the topics of developing leaders, growing spiritually, personal wellness and self-care, service and advocacy for justice, and United Methodist Women organizing for growth. Dynamic town hall meetings will bring us all together to learn about current issues and to dialogue with the experts on these issues. We will have an all-female band and worship leaders with a choir who will sing, shout and stir our souls with fire for God! Come listen to great speakers—and be prepared for some surprises!
Assembly is a unique opportunity to sit down have a cup of coffee or fresh water in your reusable containers with like-minded women and talk about the changes you want to make in your community and our world. It’s a chance to learn about yourself, one another and the important connection we all share in Jesus and in our faith, hope and love.
Assembly will inspire you to grow and act and Make It Happen. Ladies, we are growing—in our small groups, in our circles, on college campuses, in the military. We are inviting our neighbors and our co-workers to join us in action. Assembly is the perfect invitation.
Yes, my sisters in Christ, United Methodist Women members Make It Happen! Join us in Louisville so we can Make It Happen together.
